Since the 1950’s, the television has dominated our
culture. It has been used to entertain, bring the
news, sell products, and even preach the gospel. It
has influenced our language with terms like
infomercial, wide-screen, channel surfing, reruns,
talk shows, telethons, and of course, high
definition.
During the month of August, we will look back at some popular prime time TV shows. These were shows that we identified with, that portrayed American life. We connected with our favorite characters as they worked through their struggles and issues. We felt good when they inevitably solved their problems by the end of the show. In this series of messages, we will revisit these shows and look at them through the lens of the Bible.
